"What I Did Over My Summer Vacation" by the REV Wildcat

This picture makes a good screen saver!

When the clay sculpture was finished, the
wildcat was cut apart to cast the parts in molds.

Underneath the "pink goo" is the head.

YIKES! This is the side of the body w/out the head or legs!

Are you SURE this will work?!?

 Tastes like chicken!

 Cast in plaster, still drying

All the pieces are now cast in plaster waiting to be attached!

 All together in plaster!

Won't he look great at REV!

Getting primed and then it's back to REV for a final fitting on my rock!

Starting to look wild, but not menacing...

Notice how his feet are formed to fit the shape of the base

The sculpture is planned to look interesting from all sides.

Homecoming

The rock (really a boulder) was delivered to it's home at REV on Saturday. It is located in front of the REV Art Gallery doors in the right side planter. Now it needs to be positioned in the final spot so Scott can start sculpting the wildcat to fit the rock.

Rock Climbing

Today we chose the base rock for the wildcat sculpture. Artist Scott Krohne (on top of the rocks) will model the wildcat to fit the shape of the rock. Our first thoughts upon driving into the rock yard were that the rocks all looked like piles of potatoes! I am sure that REV Principal John Maloney and RUSD Chief Academic Officer Paul Cullen (they were the contacts for the "rock guy") did not think it could possible take so long just to pick out a rock, but we finally found the perfect one!

Here's our perfect rock! Many thanks to the "rock guy," Pat Casey! He'll deliver it to REV on Saturday.
